THREE PAGES UPLOADED!!! (make sure you go back and see them!)
I'd like to murder whatever part of my brain gives me inspiration.
Or at least get it to have better timing. THREE pages it said, on top of a big, last minute scholarship entry, on top of TONS of new ideas for personal projects. :P That said, I like how the backrounds came out on these pages. I actually put a little bit of effort into it.
Thanks, Theorah, maybe I should do that. It would certainly save some space in the comments! Or maybe I should make/expand the info page.
Another tidbit on languages: the essence (aka Unknown- basically solid, sentinent magic) have their own instinctive language that is so complicated, it's close to impossible for anyone who isn't an essence to figure it out. So my guess is as good as yours as to what Unknown means when he says "Drivonich Kartsovarikny." (he could very well be swearing, for all anyone knows)
On elvish colors: For the upper class elves, personal colors are very important. When an elf reaches adulthood, he/she can choose their own set of colors that, with a symbol that also somehow links to them, represents them. The colors are chosen however the elf wants, although the firstborn is allowed to inherit the father's colors, which is usually how it goes. (the other children generally choose similar colors) When a daughter marries, she adopts her husband's colors. The colors are usually repeated wherever possible. Jovan chose red and black as his colors, even though the rest of his family and brothers have shades of brown/gold. I think red and black have some sort of literary significance to him. I'm not sure. But anyways, the colors are very important to an upper class elf, sometimes more important than his name. and wars have been fought because of it. ("Stealing colors" is a phrase that resulted from one of them. It refers to either betrayal, or taking/damagin something irreplacable.) Btw- silver and dark purple are the colors of elvish royalty. Jovan's mother is the sister of the current elvish queen.
So anyways, we meet one member of Jovan's family. He has at least two other brothers, (Joiell the Younger and Jordis) himself being the youngest. You'll meet them all later.
IRL- we watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs the other day (based off one of my fav childrens' books ever!) and I think I'm still trying to figure out what I thought of it. It was funny, to say the least. Also, an area near where I live got snow the other day. YAY! for cold weather! (Come to think of it, the whole summer has been relatively cool.) I'm going to stop typing/boring you now- my fingers are freezing and I CAN'T WAIT to get started on the next page!!!
You depict age very well in your artwork, as in I could tell Jovans father was older then Jovan, I dont know many people who can draw older people too well!
I love this page too, nice focus on how Jovan must be feeling...
Wow, this is really getting exciting, I'm really looking forward to coming pages. Im going to draw some fanart too this week =3
