A little late on the update because I was moving over the end of last week (and because I had the page finished last night but somehow managed to forget to upload it until AFTER I went to bed). And I guess it was only a matter of time before I ended up doing this, but I've decided to shade the backgrounds like I do the characters, to give me a bit more freedom with color and pattern choice. Speaking of patterns- I guess this is the first time the Kasimitian tree has been officially used. The tree, based off an old miren myth (something to do with it sprouting from the sun and holding the stars and 5 moons in its branches), is the symbol Willowtail uses on just about everything. Somewhat similar to the Alliance's/Unknown's sun, but whereas the tree has a sort of personal meaning to Willowtail, Unknown chose the sun for different reasons that may or may not be brought up later. In any case, you'll have to wait until later for an explanation.
Btw- that is a very large and very expensive clock Merovek is looking at in the second panel. The top circle tells him what year of the decade it is (I believe I already went over that bit, didn't I?), the bottom circle tells him what day of the month it is, and the middle tells him the time as well as what phase each of the five moons are in. The plates with the times/dates/years/phases all circle around the arrow in the middle, and the arrow remains stationary.
Thanks, Theorah! Those things were actually inspired by my watching Avatar and thinking that if an animal had a double set of legs, it would make more sense to have it be the back legs, because as far as I've seen, the back legs are what power the animal. Just a thought. :) I may or may not upload a sketch of one to deviantart in the near future.
Jedigal- XD That's what's so fun about Willowtail- he's very unpredictable and his reactions depend entirely on what is going on, what his mood is, who he's around, what he last ate, etc. etc. etc.
Sounds fun. :D You should email me, girl, so we can talk more about stories.
oooh! The transparent magic looks interesting! Subtle but not hard to see either.
I really like the elegant setting, love the detail in the BGs too, and I really like the bottom two panels, really gives off a very grand feeling, I can imagine those large doors and steps echoing as he passes through them...
And hehe I like this guy, he seems quite relaxed despite having a responsible feel about him!
